Medical Assistant – Overview

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct patient intake, including collecting medical histories, vital signs, and medication information to maintain accurate records
• Prepare exam rooms, sterilize equipment, and assist providers during procedures
• Perform clinical tasks such as rooming patients, taking vitals, reviewing medications, and assisting with procedures (e.g., injections, nerve blocks)
• Maintain accurate documentation in Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems, including ICD coding and treatment updates
• Deliver excellent patient service by answering questions, explaining procedures, and ensuring patient comfort

Qualifications & Skills

• Strong understanding of medical terminology and basic life support protocols
• Experience in a medical office setting preferred
• Proficiency with EHR systems; familiarity with ICD coding is a plus
• Ability to perform clinical duties such as vital signs measurement and assisting with diagnostic procedures
• Excellent interpersonal skills with a compassionate, patient-focused approach
• Experience in pain management or adaptability to fast-paced clinical environments
• Solid knowledge of medical practices and procedures
