Job Description

About the Role

Rocky Mountain Paddleboard (RMP) is hiring friendly, reliable Café & Bar Team Members to join our Lakeside Café team for the summer season.

This is a behind-the-counter service role where you’ll take guest orders, prepare drinks & snacks, and help create a great experience for visitors spending the day at the Boulder Reservoir.

Think part barista, part bartender, part hospitality host — all in a fun lakefront environment.

Our café sits right at the Boulder Reservoir and serves guests enjoying time on the water. Summer weekends can be busy and high-energy, so we’re looking for team members who enjoy staying active, working with people, and keeping service moving while maintaining a friendly, welcoming vibe.

In addition to daily café service, our team also supports paddle board events and athlete events at the Reservoir, helping serve food and drinks during these special programs.

No craft cocktail experience is required — our beverage program is simple and easy to learn.

At RMP, we operate with our S.T.O.K.E. values — Service, Teamwork, Ownership, Knowledge, and Energy . We’re looking for team members who bring a positive attitude, take pride in their work, and enjoy contributing to a strong team environment.

Schedule

  • Part-time: 15–20 hours per week

  • 5–6 hour shifts

  • Thursday–Sunday availability preferred

  • No late nights

  • Holiday availability is a strong plus

  • Ideal for students or anyone looking for a fun seasonal summer role

What You’ll Do

  • Take guest orders using Toast POS

  • Handle cash and credit card transactions

  • Prepare draft beer, kegged cocktails, canned beverages, coffee drinks, and non-alcoholic drinks

  • Serve alcohol in compliance with Colorado liquor laws

  • Prepare soft serve ice cream, pastries, and light snack items

  • Follow opening and closing procedures

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the café and bar area

  • Help keep the bar stocked and ready for high-volume summer service

  • Support light retail organization and restocking

  • Assist with food & beverage service during paddle board and athlete events

All service is completed behind the café bar/counter — there is no table service.

What We’re Looking For

  • Friendly, positive, and guest-focused

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment

  • Reliable and punctual

  • 18+ years old (required to serve alcohol)

  • Able to obtain Colorado TIPS certification

  • Able to obtain Food Handler or ServSafe certification

  • Comfortable using POS systems and handling cash

  • Team-oriented with strong communication skills

We’re looking for team members who are dependable, communicate clearly, and show up ready to contribute during our busy summer weekends.

Bonus if you:

  • Have café, bar, or hospitality experience

  • Enjoy working in a summer, lakefront environment

  • Are looking for consistent seasonal work

Physical Requirements

  • Standing for extended periods

  • Lifting up to 30 lbs

  • Repetitive drink prep and cleaning tasks

  • Occasional outdoor event support

Compensation

  • Minimum Wage + Tips

  • Tips are pooled and shared among the FOH team

  • Part-time seasonal role (15–20 hours per week)

Why Work With Us

  • Beautiful Boulder Reservoir location

  • High-energy summer atmosphere

  • Supportive team environment

  • Flexible part-time schedule

  • Opportunity to gain hospitality and bar service experience

  • Part of a growing hospitality group
