Anna Tasca Lanza Foundation | Remote | Approx 15 hours over 8 weeks

About Us

Anna Tasca Lanza is a renowned cooking school and cultural center in Sicily that has preserved Sicilian culinary traditions and promoted sustainable agriculture for over 25 years. We're now establishing the Anna Tasca Lanza Foundation as a California 501(c)(3) nonprofit to expand our educational mission connecting people, food, history, and land.

The Project

We need an experienced accounting professional to establish our Year One financial management system and set us up for success.

What You'll Create:

1. Accounting System Setup (Excel/Google Sheets)
   • Chart of accounts tailored for nonprofit operations
   • Templates for accounts payable, accounts receivable, and bank reconciliation
   • Systems ensuring nonprofit accounting standards compliance
2. Financial Reporting Templates
   • Monthly and quarterly summary reports
   • Budget vs. actual tracking
   • Cash flow projections
   • Board-ready financial statements
3. Documentation & Guidance
   • Basic financial policies and procedures
   • Month-end/quarter-end checklists
   • Recommendations for accounting software and internal controls
   • Brief training for foundation staff

We're Looking For

Required:

• Professional accounting/finance experience (CPA or equivalent preferred)
• Nonprofit accounting knowledge and Form 990 familiarity
• Strong Excel/Google Sheets skills
• Detail-oriented with clear communication skills

Bonus:

• Experience setting up accounting systems for startups
• QuickBooks or nonprofit accounting software experience
• Understanding of California nonprofit requirements

Time Commitment

Approx 15 hours total over 6-8 weeks (timing here: February/March + monthly check-ins through June)

• Flexible schedule with periodic video check-ins
• Most work can be done independently
